Husband and wife team, Labrador enthusiasts, Keith and Angie Townsend live in West Sussex in the heart of the South Downs. They kennel between 8 and 12 Elmertown Labradors at any one time and are passionate about the Labrador breed. They try to produce their own medium sized biddable temperament puppies, which are fully health screened and abide by all Assured Breeding Kennel Club Regulations.
The dogs are all worked throughout the shooting season and Angie and Keith also compete with them in working tests and field trials, keeping both themselves and their dogs happy and fit. Elmertown Labradors, once trained, are known for their ability to:
- walk to heel
- recall reliably
- stop on the whistle
- jump fences and gates
- swim with confidence
- run out in a straight line and retrieve game some 100/200 yards away
- take left or right and back directions at a distance
- sit and stay in one place until instructed to go out for a retrieve
- retrieve game from any type of ground ie water, woods, bushes
Puppies from Elmertown litters have gone on to be wonderful, much-loved family pets, as well as working and sporting dogs. Over the last 15 years, Keith and Angie have become renowned for their Labradors which are:
- social with other dogs
- friendly with children and accustomed to family life
- house trained
- used to travelling in the car
- well suited to other dog sports as well as gundog work, such as agility and scentwork
Each puppy is ready at 8 weeks of age. The puppy will be registered, vet checked, micro-chipped and wormed to date. It will be provided with an assured breeders’ puppy pack containing all information required for its future, 4 weeks' insurance and a bag of food for weaning.
Kieth and Angie take their role as breeders very seriously and all potential future Elmertown owners will be put through an interview process to ensure they are suitable and will be able to provide loving, forever homes for the puppies.
